Highlighting the creative magic behind post-processed photos
Before we get to this week’s galleries, just a reminder that there’s still time to participate in February’s One Photo Focus on February 6, where all participants submit their post-processed version of this image submitted by Manal Ali of A Single Shutter:
Check out After-Before Friday Week 33 to find out how! For all the details on ABFriday and One Photo Focus, visit the After-Before Friday Forum page. Join the party!
Now, on to this week’s ABFriday galleries, with many thanks to all those participating!
My submission: Last week, I showed you how I used Nik Color Efex Pro to create highly stylized versions of an image. This week I return to Color Efex to demonstrate the use of control points to minimize the effect of a filter on chosen elements in an image.
Submitted by Michelle Lunato — Michelle Lunato Photography
Michelle says: This wacky abstract fun all started with some really boring Christmas light photos that I took at a drive-through display. We were driving so slow I started taking pictures. Yes, while driving! They came out decent but really not so much that I wanted to publicly post them, lol. So, I started playing around and discovered a bunch of crazy cool abstract pictures to add to my portfolio. 🙂
Submitted by Katie Prior — Drawing with Light
Katie says: This week, I got to work out the clone tool in Lightroom to get rid of some unwanted extras in my image.
Submitted by Loré Dombaj — Snow’s Fissures and Fractures
Loré says: I tried to contain my magination last week and now this happened. I fear what would happen if I contained it for a longer period of time. 😛 I can’t help it, it seems my philosophy is if you are going in, go all the way. If you’d like to find out how this journey started and how I ended here, you can check a longer post on my blog.

Submitted by Lynne Ayers — Beyond the Brush Photography
Lynne says: My original image lacked the atmosphere that was present that day so I wanted to try to recover that. My what-I-did’s are in my blog post at Beyond the Brush Photography.

Submitted by Benjamin Rowe — Aperture64
Ben says: This image was a little bit of a trail to edit mostly because of my exposure and ISO. Sometimes I like to make life hard for myself.
Submitted by Janice Meyers Foreman — jmeyersforeman photography
Janice says: I have been working on some still-life photography and an online course by Kim Klassen. Here are some roses I processed using lightroom and one of Kim’s lightroom presets. I will outline the full process on my blog…
Please click on the links of those who contributed this week, to read about their post-processing steps and/or to see what other treasures they have on their blogs. They’d love to have you visit!

Finally catching up! All I can say about your after – amazing! The things you do with the sky, I want to do that. And I love the video, you are so natural, like a pro. 😀

Well, let’s see. The sky? Those details came back in when I decreased the overexposure 🙂 And as for the video, I won’t tell you how many “takes” it takes me to get a final version… 😉 But thanks for liking the after image so much!

Watching your videos always makes me itchy to get home and play with my images more. I love it! I think most of what you did this week can be duplicated with Perfect Effects 9. I said I think! Great job!

Thanks, Emilio 🙂 Let me know if what you think ends up working!
