Katz’s Delicatessen, Ludlow and Houston Streets, New York City
For those of you familiar with the movie “When Harry Met Sally,” Katz’s was the location of the famous “I’ll have what she’s having” scene with Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal. In fact, hanging from the ceiling above the table where the scene was shot is a sign saying “Where Harry Met Sally… Hope you have what she had! Enjoy!!” And in the midst of all the bedlam and scores of people waiting to sit, this lone table stands empty. Have some fun pondering the reasons for that!
Wow, I love this shot… so much detal, I can look for ages at the different people, wonder what their story is and where they came from, why they are there….I love a story like that and you have filled the book with pages of detail. Imagine how noisy it is in there 🙂

Kaz, like you, I find myself being attracted to crowd pictures and cityscapes lately (maybe I’m finally starting to figure out what I like to shoot!), for exactly that reason – there’s so much to see and imagine. So I’m glad you’ve homed in on that! As for the noise? Pure bedlam!!! Thanks for a lovely comment…

I loved how busy those pictures were! They sure showed the energy and crowdedness of a busy deli at peak lunch.

Thanks, Nancy 🙂 It was absolutely NUTS!!!! I walked all the way to the back corner to get the first shot and was literally standing 3 feet from that table in the foreground. No one paid any attention to me. So New York 🙂

I’d love to see them in color. I bet it’s just a jumble of colors.

More from the neon signs on the walls, Nancy, then the warm, weather clothes everyone had on 🙂

fantastic Stacey but honestly being a bit of an introvert I don’t think I’d eat there lol!! Did anyone answer Robin’s question?

Ha! And, yes, Loré did – apparently, it was Rob Reiner’s mom 🙂

Wow, amazing that nobody sits at that table. I guess you’d feel everyone’s eyes on you … waiting for you to have the same reaction as Sally!

Don’t know if it was a fluke, but it sure added another dimension to the image! 😉

Hmmmm. Trivia question: do you know the identity of the woman who uttered that famous quote in the movie?

Nope, I didn’t, but I see that Loré did 🙂
