Weekly Photo Challenge: Yellow

Subway 5th Avenue New York CityNikon D7100, 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 lens @ 18 mm, 1/5 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 1000 (handheld)

New York City Subway. December 2014. My favorite part of the photo? Having spent the morning at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, the blur of the American flag decal.

  1. Having read the exchange between you and Emilio, I was thrilled to learn that I am not alone in forgetting to change the ISO setting (or any other setting for that matter). ugh!!
Love the image! I imagine that was a difficult morning at the 9-11 museum.
Hope you enjoyed (or are still enjoying) the cruise!

    • LOL, Laurie! I have forgotten the ISO setting sooo many times. The latest setting I forgot about was turning off the image stabilization on my lens when I used my tripod to take some night shots on my vacation. Ugggghhhh, exactly!! If you ever have the opportunity to visit the 9-11 Museum, you won’t regret it. Absolutely difficult, but so incredibly well done. I plan on writing a post about the experience once I get back into the schedule of real life. The holiday was wonderful; the family time, treasured! Thanks, and happy New Year to you!

  2. Give me a break. 1000 ISO? No way. Where’s the noise? My Canon has noise at 400 ISO. Are you suggesting I pour even more money into this hobby? When do I reap the rewards? If my wife asked for money every time she wanted something I would definitely expect something in return! OK, enough of my rant! You might be at my old stomping grounds. I used to work at Fifth Ave. and 47th St. I would walk up to the subway at 53rd to ctch a train to the LIRR. You’ve got a very iconic shot here. beautifully captured! I want to be there.

    • Emilio, I’m sitting in the sports bar with my daughter on board the cruise ship finally with internet connection and the first thing I check is WordPress (yup, is that good or bad?) Your comment just made me laugh — of course I’ve had a few glasses of pre-voyage wine :). As for noise, wait for all the other NYC pics I took and forgot to change the ISO!! How I hate when that happens! Anyway, Nik Efex Dfine is the program I used to remove it. Love that suite of apps 🙂 So don’t despair 🙂 All that said, someday I’d love to hear the story of how you ended up where you are after living in NYC!

    • Thanks, Pat! Leaning against the concrete pillar certainly helped 😉 (And not only did I have a good weekend, I had a great holiday and am now getting back to my blog. Thanks for your comment, and happy New Year to you!)
