Photography 101: Connected

Two couples, one elderly and one young adults, holding hands as they wait to cross the street.

This is one of those photos where I captured more than I knew. Walking down the street in Washington, DC, I was drawn to the elderly couple holding hands. I didn’t know how much time I had before the light was going to change, so I quickly stopped, shot the photo, and moved on (as they began to cross the street). How surprised was I when I uploaded the photo to my computer and saw that, not only had I captured another couple, but they were holding hands too. I love the connection of the couples, but even more, the contrast of the generations.

Today’s Photography 101 Assignment: In today’s world, we’re more connected than ever. How will you capture our theme, connect, through your lens?

    • Ha, not so brave, Elizabeth. I took it without them knowing 😉 I, too, am still working on getting up my courage to ask in certain situations. Here, though, even had I been comfortable asking, would have ruined the moment. Thanks so much for your comment!

  1. I love this photo. Such a contrast …. the young and the old, generations ago and today’s generation. Perfect picture of then and now.
