This photo is doing double duty: perfect for this week’s Photo Challenge AND, because it was much better converted to black and white, perfect for this week’s Monochrome Madness Challenge #13 as well.

I have moved several of these when we off road out in the desert of Arizona. Neat effect in black and white. I need to experiment more with black and white. Thank you for the inspiration!! π

This one was just holding a tree next to a sidewalk in downtown DC π I like your story better! I’m definitely experimenting with more black and white – that’s a result of the Monochrome Madness Challenge on Leanne Cole’s blog. You should click on that link and take a look at the submissions for more inspiration. Some amazing photos each week that just blow me away. Thanks, again, for a lovely comment!

Great shot Stacy. Perfect for both challenges. I’m loving black and white photography more and more. My recent Blog Poll seems to agree π

Thanks, Karen! I was just playing around with depth of field in taking this shot (I have a few different versions). I hadn’t yet deleted them from my card. When I came across them again, I decided to crop and post-process to see what I could come up with. Color wasn’t great. Conversion to b&w held promise, and after a few more tweaks, I actually really liked it! Trash to treasure, I guess π Glad you like it too.

Thanks, Robyn. I just have to laugh that this is my most liked post of all as it grew out of photographing nothing but a tree stake while playing with DOF π I think the b&w really made the image.
