Street photography involves the ability to see a scene and quickly react to it before the moment is lost forever. I spotted these balloons and the sun flare. On its own, nothing special. I decided to wait, perhaps for a child holding a balloon to walk through. (A likely situation since this street is on the way from our National Zoo.) I waited for a bit, but nothing. And then I spied this pedestrian with a little bit of a belly venturing toward the corner. In my mind’s eye, I wanted tohave his head hidden by the ballon and to have him stepping out with one of his feet to add strength to the photo. All came together to turn this photo into a bit of street humor.
Great timing..I love how street photography requires visual interpretation and patience. I find myself waiting at a crosswalk or spot for a while before getting the shot I want.

Thanks, Raewyn! I thought about waiting for someone with a larger “curve,” but the likelihood of all the components coming together as they did in this one was pretty low 🙂
