Photo Shoot

Photo shoot on Venice Beach, California

Venice Beach, California

I noticed this photo shoot as I walked towards the pier on Venice Beach. What did I notice first? The model in the red coat. But then I walked out onto the pier and looked down on the shoot,Β and that’s when I chose to press the shutter. The long shadows and the reflections in the surf brought wonderful additional layers of interest to the photo. It was yet another reminder to look at scenes from various angles and perspectives.

  1. Thanks, Nancy πŸ™‚ I have to admit that I need to work more on moving around a scene – sometimes I just get so excited when I see something I can’t help myself in pressing the shutter. That’s not a bad thing, especially if the scene may change (and with people that definitely will happen), but once that “safety” shot is in the camera, it can definitely pay to work the scene!

  2. So much to see in this photo… and I saw it after I read your post.
I see the shadows… and the red coat caught my eye… but I looked at the people next and then the ripples. VERY COOL! and would not have done that… I need to look at all perspectives when capturing an image! Well done my dear… πŸ™‚

  3. The shadows and reflections add texture to the picture. A good tip to consider more than one perspective. I have to often taken a picture of what’s caught my eye and not looked at the surround.

  4. Well I am glad you pointed out the shadows and the change of perspective – it was nice to go back and see that because the first thing I saw was that red coat!
And then the posture – the lady across from him with the leg straight has a mood or vibe.
Then I noticed the couple far right- nice lens! And adds interest – like photographer looking on photographer doIng shoot while photographer photos from over there!
