(2 photos) Sunrise from the Brooklyn Bridge – that was my goal when I bounded out of bed to catch a taxi to drop me at the beginning of the pedestrian walkway that crosses the bridge. I remember the journey as if it was yesterday, though it was last August. The morning was cool and clear as I ran up the first part of the walkway to catch the beginning of the sunrise. Only one other person was near me on the bridge – a woman using her cellphone to photograph the scene.
I spent a lot of time photographing the sunrise over the Manhattan Bridge, with all its fiery oranges, reds, and yellows.
Manhattan Bridge, 5:45 am
But as I continued across the bridge to Brooklyn, it was this image, looking back, that really captured my heart. Manhattan was coming awake, and I was there to witness it, in all its majesty. I do so love this city!

Hi Stacy, loving the shot of the Manhattan skyline with the morning sun. That’s a interesting POV, looks like you climbed on top of the bridge?

Hey, Boomdee! So sorry for the overdue reply. Just starting to get back into the swing of things since my move into DC. It does kinda look like I climbed on top, but no, just the view from the walkway. Such wonderful views from this amazing bridge!

Fabulous images Stacy. Crisp and colorful. Brooklyn Bridge was always my favorite growing up near NYC but now my heart and camera goes to Goldie. 😉

Thanks, Jane! My first love actually was the Verrazano, until I became aware of the Golden Gate. That captured my imagination for decades! And then I walked across the BB – and today, I’m hard pressed to decide which of the two is my favorite 🙂

Growing up in NJ I was always in love with the bridges around NYC. Yes, the Verrazano — and, I have always loved the BB for its intricate beauty and the GG which I now enjoy every day. 😍
