  2. Hi-ya Stacy! I just popped in to snoop. BTW, I really like the layout on your home screen with the photo previews of your posts lined up for selection. It looks (on works) like a visual Table of Contents. That’s how I spotted this post, so it works great.

    I took a lot of photo’s of the Monument too, but none even hold a candle to your collection here. I guess that’s why I just have a blog of ‘silliness’ LOL.
    I really fancy the one with a red kite flying by. The red kite, blue sky and white clouds remind me of your beautiful flag. I’m so glad you share your views of Washington, everything’s so memorable. x K

    • Hey, Boomdee! You can snoop anytime you want šŸ˜€ I haven’t had much time to do my own snooping lately but my plan is to correct that these next few days, so watch for my visit!

      Thanks for the thumbs up on the layout. You know, I’ve had this theme since the beginning and really like its clean layout, but I’ve been toying with the idea of seeing what else might be out there that’s similar. So it’s funny that you should mention that you like it. And as for your blog of “silliness,” na-ah, not a chance!

      Now, for that red kite, I took so many shots trying to capture one that was just “right.” A little girl and her dad were flying the kite, and as they moved, I moved with them. If it had been any other color, I might not have been as persistent, but that red against the monument was just the ticket! I like how it reminds you of our flag – I hadn’t thought about that, but I’m sure subconsciously that’s why I liked the combination of colors so much.   4. Stacy, the pond with water makes a big difference in composition. Pictures look beautiful. Unfortunately, by the time of my last visit it was under construction or renovation (whatever). It was absolutely different view. The picture with columns and two guys looks like you’ve seen it with Lincoln’s eyes. šŸ™‚

  7. I have seen that monument from many angles, even climbed it. A pointy thing. Of course, it is. And this is the first time it has occurred to me that it is such. Well done on all counts.

    • LOL! It was funny, Mary, because when I first saw the challenge I thought, “nope, I don’t have anything for this.” And then as I was looking through my images and passed this one, the lightbulb went off šŸ™‚ Thanks for your comment! Do you live in the area?

  8. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to DC (we lived there ~5years ago). I love the images from the Lincoln Memorial POV, especially the one with the person leaning on the pillar and the sunset with the reflecting pool. So lovely. šŸ˜€

  13. When I visited the Lincoln Memorial it was the middle of the afternoon – it was crowded with people, there was no water in the pond and the sky was grey. Yet the view of the pointy thing down the Mall was just breathtaking to my eyes.
    I stood a long while drinking in the views, trying to fix them into my memory. As usual I took no photos! My eyes started to leak as I looked at your images – somehow this is how I remember the occasion……… For me it was such a special and magical moment – to actually be there – that my mind has filtered out the dreary bits and filled them in with colour and silence! Thank you for so perfectly picturing what I experienced. xoxo

    • Oh, Pauline, I am so delighted that my images brought to life that wonderful moment for you! You made me teary. Even having lived in DC for the past 35 years, the sight of any of the monuments never ceases to inspire awe. And now having experienced these two without tourists, I have to say I am forever spoiled. I see more sunrise shooting in my future. Thank you for leaving such a lovely, heartfelt comment ā¤ļø

  20. Good morning, Stacy. Love your photos. It seems like you are always be able to catch that special exact moment šŸ˜‰ I mean the kite, the two men…. Sometime, I think, among us, some are true photographers and some are not (they enjoy taking photos, that’s it… like me ;-). You definitely are true photographer!

    • Helen, I can’t tell you how much your comment moved me. I still struggle with the idea of calling myself a “photographer,” as in when someone asks me what I “do,” the most I will say is I’m a photography enthusiast and blogger. I don’t know at want point I’ll be comfortable dropping “enthusiast” for simply “photographer,” but your lovely comment has moved me a bit more down that road. Thanks ever so much. I appreciate it more than you know!
