Fuji X100T, fixed 23mm 2.0 lens, f/10, ISO 200, tripod
HDR composite (1/50, 1/60, 1/80 sec)
While taking golden hour shots of the Washington Monument, I happened to look toward the Jefferson Memorial, saw the beautiful light on its dome, and just had to get a picture. It’s not too far from where I was to the Jefferson, but I did feel compelled to run so that I could get some shots and still have time to return to the Washington to continue shooting there. Now running for me is not easily accomplished, and if I had been carrying my Nikon kit, darn near impossible. But I was carrying the Fuji x100T, my MeFOTO travel tripod, and a very small backpack, so off I went. This was the happy result.
As it turns out, the photo fits a few of the themes of Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week (water, reflection, lines, and rules of thirds), another happy result. If you haven’t participated in Cee’s challenges, definitely check out Cee’s Photography for all of her weekly offerings: Odd Ball (Sunday), Fun Foto (Tuesday), Which Way (Wednesday), and Black and White (Thursday). She is an incredibly supportive host, talented photographer, and all-around wonderfully nice person!
Congratulations! I have selected this post to be featured on Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge.

such a wonderful capture of the light and I love the children in the foreground as well.
The trees framing the shot add so much.
I’m so envious of all that you, and Cee, and others are doing with the camera and the challenges. For now, I’ll have to be content to visit. Someday I’ll do more!

Very nice image, Stacy. Very well composed and as another reader mentioned, a mood of serenity. Funny how it’s a lot less crowded down there these days.

Thanks, Mike. So many overhanging trees at the Tidal Basin – it’s just a matter of picking the pair you want 😉
