Bloggers: The Most Incredible Gathering of Friends!

Ten days ago, I was honored and excited to join a very special gathering of the most amazing women I had never met! Five WordPress bloggers traveled from as far away as New Zealand; Alberta, Canada; and California, to spend a week together in Virginia celebrating the friendships they had formed through their blogs. Imagine my delight when I was asked to join them for lunch in Washington, DC, just days after the group had met for the first time! Concerned that I would be crashing their party, Laurie assured me I was welcome and that there would be two other “invitees” as well. And so I went. And it was fabulous! I was warmly welcomed, we never stopped talking, and the hours at lunch passed by much too quickly. We jokingly laughed that the entire story could make for a great movie. Of course, that led to all kinds of speculation as to who we would get to play our parts. Pauline claimed Dame Judi Dench, while Laurie chose Julia Roberts, and I must admit that with all the laughter, I just can’t remember the others. But ladies, I need to change my original choice – can I be Jamie Lee Curtis instead? ๐Ÿ˜€

Sending hugs to Laurie, Pauline, Boomdee, Alys, Lisa, and Patti – absolute treasures, all!

Life on the Bike and other Fab Things

Weโ€™ve all said it, and many of you have as well.

WordPress Blogging has become so much more than we ever thought it would be. ย What started out as travel diary, forum for writing, sharing of photography, enlightenment about art, gardening, or crafting, or keeping up with family has become a community of international friends.

Over the last several days, 8 WP bloggers from 3 countries and 2 states, have met in various locations to continue in person, the relationships that have been forged through the world of blogging.

We marveled that while most of us had never met each other, we talked and laughed as if weโ€™d known each other for years.

Which, of course, we had.

  1. What a fabulous trip! It was wonderful meeting you, Stacy. You’ve described our lunch beautifully as well. I agree with you and the others: Jamie Lee Curtis it is. I’d forgotten the movie star pics as well. I’m following along now, and will comment with more regularity when I’m caught up. Looks like lots of fun around here.

    • Hi, Alice! I seem to be working backwards on my post comments – more recent to those overdue for replies. Oops. Thanks for the JLC approval ๐Ÿ™‚ And so glad to be a part of each other’s WP community!

  2. Oh ya, who will play who in the Movie, LOL I had forgot all about that. What a concept! You’re a writerโ€ฆ.screen play in the future? Wouldn’t that be something? Totally relevant I think. Jaimie Lee Curtis is perfect for you! I can totally see that. I can’t remember who I said, but maybe Drew Barrymore, She’s kind of loveable and fun ๐Ÿ˜€
When would I ever get to connect with so many creative, artistic and genuine folks like you, if not for blogging? I’m continually being amazed by it all. I actually just started to follow a photographer in Bangalore today. I may never get to India but I might be able to say, “I’ve made a friend there thru Blogging”. The side benefits of blogging are really something pretty unique and wonderful, thanks for being part of my community x K

      • This is the Blogger I started to follow in Bangalore, his name is Tassem. He followed me first (I’m never sure how people stumble by, ha). Read my conversation with him on his About page. He’s so interesting to talk with. I like his photo’s a lot too. Everyday life thru the lens takes on a life of its own.

        • Thanks so much for the link, Boomdee! I finally had an opportunity to sit down and visit and I, too, liked what I saw and what I read (I enjoyed your conversation with him!). So I’m a happy new follower ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. As I can’t remember your original choice, I can’t compare, but it seems to me that nobody but Jamie Lee could play you – I can see her strutting herself in your fabulous jacket and shoes down cobbled streets, camera flung casually over a shoulder [do you do that? If no – please start immediately!]

It was such a pleasure to spend some time with you – I wished we could visit longer, but that days schedule was insane!
I swear we packed enough experiences for three weeks into that one 18 hour day!

I’m back home and still letting all the images and conversations and experiences settle. It was a most delicious taste of the US and some of her people and one that will inspire and motivate me for a very long time! I am so glad you were part of it! xoxo

    • LOL, Goldie Hawn ๐Ÿ˜‰ When I told my daughter we were picking actresses, she said “Well, of course, you picked Jamie Lee Curtis.” She couldn’t believe I hadn’t, given that I truly do love her and always talk about her hairstyle. I told her in all the excitement, I lost my head and went purely on hair color ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay, an 18-hour day?? Nope, no way, I would have collapsed ๐Ÿ˜‰

Keep enjoying those wonderful memories, as will I. And the next time I walk down the street, I’ll “strut my stuff” and think of you ๐Ÿ˜€ โค๏ธ
