Spotted these containers for mail while on the road somewhere in southwestern Wyoming, driving from Boulder, Colorado to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

It was one of those moments where I shouted to my husband as we were in the middle of nowhere, “Pull over!” 🙂 Thanks for all your kind comments today, Elina!

Really nicely done Stacy. I’ve been looking for some interesting mail boxes around here to take but just not in the perfect place. You found the perfect place 🙂

So mystifying … where/what are the residences to which these forlorn containers belong? Evoked thoughts of baby birds clustered in a nest waiting to be fed. Perfect photo for B&W.

It was really strange, Debby, to see these and no “attached” houses. But there certainly weren’t a lot of houses to see anywhere in southern Wyoming – just thousands and thousands of acres of plateaus and scrub. So these mailboxes were a very welcome sight!

Lovely picture Stacy and great B&W. I also love the play of the shadows. It looks to me like “classified mail containers”!

Thanks, Jaime 🙂 The shadows were definitely the deciding factor in stopping to take this shot. The empty road helped too!

For sure; empty road, empty mail boxes (I guess), it works!

I like your comment, Bruce; thanks! I hadn’t thought of that idea. We really were out in the middle of nowhere — although apparently there were houses somewhere off that road 🙂

I hope he wasn’t too angry with you. I know when I go out with my partner and I am taking photos, he can get a little fed up with it all 🙂

Ha! He was a good sport at that moment. We’d been driving for hours and he knew I needed a photo fix 🙂
