Color mural on building of the iconic photo of "Sailor Kissing Woman" in Times Square on V-J Day.

History forever captured and remembered

Public art projects abound on and around the High Line, an elevated public park built on an historic freight rail line on Manhattan’s west side in New York City. Case in point: An incredible mural of the iconic Alfred Eisenstaedt photo V-J Day, The Kiss. (Notice the cans of spray paint sitting underneath.) The mural, located atΒ  25th Street and 10th Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, was painted by Eduardo Kobra, a Brazilian artist known for his kaleidoscopic street art portraying historical figures.

  1. That impresive explosion of colors takes the sensation of that famous kiss to another dimension. Love the kaleidoscopic effect on the dress, and the contrast between the colorful mural and the gray background. Nice edition!
