Since this is my third entry, clearly the theme has been a great photo challenge for me.
Beautiful blue skies and summer-like temperatures after the unending winter of 2014 brought hordes of locals and tourists to D.C.’s Tidal Basin for the annual ritual of viewing the cherry blossoms. Between dodging others and stopping to take photos at the many picturesque spots we found, the two-mile walk took us a good two hours. But the experience was well worth it, as was the picture-taking opportunity!
Cherry blossoms and pillars create a wonderful frame for the bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson.

Visitors enjoy canopies of cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin.
Cherry blossoms at their peak and a summer-like day bring visitors to the Tidal Basin to walk, to take pictures, and to paddleboat.

The cherry blossoms in the second picture are by far my favorite too. The ones in the first weren’t quite as large and colorful. But I love the silhouette of Jefferson. Hmmm, if I was only skilled enough to combine them 😀 Thanks (once again), Laura!

These pictures are glorious! So much spring! The cherry blossoms aren’t out in NYC yet, I can’t wait. I never knew that you could paddle boat on that lake- next time I’m in DC this will be top of my list of things to do!

It’s always a fun time in Washington, DC waiting to see if the blossoms will peak in time for the annual Cherry Blossom Festival. More often than not, they don’t. This year, it was perfect. Today, however, very heavy rains and winds. I would guess most of the blossoms are now gone. I’m glad I had the opportunity to photograph them this year in all their splendor!
